Community Involvement
Providing the Willamette Valley community’s electrical contractors with skilled workers has been the mission of IBEW Local 280 for over 95 years. We are committed to providing the electrical industry with highly trained electricians, schooled in the latest technologies at our state-of-the-art Training Center located in Tangent Oregon. Our members are safety certified in all aspects of the construction industry. But our commitment goes beyond the electrical industry and into our community as well.
Through grant money from our Public Service Committee, we help sponsor the Albany River Rhythms Concert Series annually as well as the Albany Art and Air Show. In addition, we have provided sponsorship for the Special Olympics, March of Dimes, Story Book Land, Toys for Tots, and much more.
We have provided the funds and volunteer labor for dozens of Habitat for Humanity homes in Salem, Albany, Corvallis, Eugene, Springfield, Tangent, Lebanon, Redmond, and Bend. We sponsor youth sports such as the Albany Boys and Girls Club, Middle School, Junior High, and High School sports teams.
To date, over $1,000,000 dollars has been granted by Local 280 to worthy causes in our jurisdiction. The list goes on, but the message is clear; we believe in supporting the communities in which we live and work.
